Travel Tips

Traveling can be one of the most enriching experiences in life, but it can be hard to plan for. See below for some helpful tips as you begin preparations.  

Air Travel

  • Use points where possible.  Travel credit cards can be super helpful in paying for air travel.  Talk to Molly or Nikki for help getting started.

  • Use google travel to find the lowest cost and try separate one ways in case those are cheaper

  • Use TSA precheck or Global Entry for quick in and out at the airport

  • Try not to check a bag in case of lost luggage or last minute flight changes

Packing

Try not to overpack.  Go for items that mix and match and leave a little room for shopping!  Pack less bulky items in your luggage and wear the bulky ones on the plane.  When traveling in Europe, a large backpack can work well, especially if you are hitting multiple destinations via train where there are lots of stairs. Clothes

Tip: Pack clothes that can mix and match and keep quantities down so they fit in a carry-on

  • Bathing suit and cover up

  • 4 tank tops or short sleeved shirts

  • A hat

Toiletries

Tip: Get a tri fold travel kit that hangs in case there is limited counter space in the bathroom

  • Shampoo and conditioner

  • Sunscreen

  • Qtips 

  • Drugs (headaches, Dramamine, etc)

  • Nail clippers, tweezers

  • Mini Sewing kit

  • Hair ties

Personal Bag  

Tip: Choose a personal bag to carryon to the plane that will fit under the seat that you will use on the trip.

Beach Bag

  • Earbuds

  • Chargers

  • Woobie (my blanket that goes everywhere with me)

  • ID/passport

  • ​Sleeping aide

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

  • Sunglasses

  • Reading glasses

  • A deck of cards

Travel Day Attire

Tip: Wear something comfortable that you can also wear during the trip.

  • Walking shoes and socks

  • Yoga pants

  • Short sleeved shirt

  • Sweatshirt or sweater

  • Long pants

  • Earrings that go with everything
